Frequently Asked Questions

What is the success rate of LDA?

The success rate overall of LDA appears to be somewhere around 80%. This figure varies considerably with specific conditions being treated. It appears that LDA has a greater long-term success than other methods of immunotherapy.

How long does it take to see results?

A positive response to the first injection occurs on an average of about 60% of the time. The first shot to “work” – at least to some degree – for most patients will be either the first, second or third treatment.

Can I take LDA sublingually?

Yes! Many doctors are now administering LDA sublingually with great success. However, please note that the LDA studies were done with intradermal administration.

May I have a list of what is in LDA?

We intentionally do not disclose the complete list of allergens in LDA because the science behind it is often misunderstood. Each LDA formulation is carefully designed using antigens that are broadly cross-reactive, meaning they cover entire families of allergens—even if a specific item, like mint, is not named individually. For example, while mint itself may not appear on the list, related antigens from the mint family are included to ensure coverage. If a patient does not see their specific allergen listed, it does not mean it has been overlooked. LDA is scientifically formulated to address virtually all allergens, both foods and inhalants, by using cross-reactive antigens that provide comprehensive protection across allergen groups.

May I get a shot more often than once every 8 weeks?

LDA is typically administered every 8 weeks, but many doctors are successfully treating certain patients by giving it every 6 weeks.

Do I have to follow the diet?

We encourage you to discuss this topic with your practitioner. LDA therapy has shown excellent success even when the dietary protocol is not strictly followed. We recognize that adhering to the diet can be particularly challenging for young children and some adults.

Should I stop taking my medications and vitamins when I get LDA?

Please consult your practitioner for personalized guidance.

When do I stop getting LDA treatments completely?

The period of improvement with LDA treatments lengthens over time, and gradually one feels quite well for the whole 2-month period between treatments. When this happens, it will be time to begin to stretch the interval between LDA treatments. This will not generally occur in adult patients until after 6 to 8 treatments (1 to 2 years). Children will often be able to stretch their treatment intervals much sooner.
