Dr. W.A. Shrader Jr., M.D.
Expert in Allergy, Environmental Medicine, and Low-Dose Immunotherapy
Dr. W.A. Shrader, Jr., M.D., is a past president of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, a past CME director of that organization and is secretary of the American Board of Environmental Medicine. He is a highly respected physician specializing in allergy, environmental medicine, and low-dose immunotherapy. With 5 decades of experience, Dr. Shrader has been at the forefront of advancing innovative treatments for allergies, food sensitivities, autoimmune disorders, and other chronic health conditions.
In the early 1990s, Dr. Shrader played a pivotal role in researching and promoting Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EPD), a groundbreaking immunotherapy method developed by Dr. Leonard M. McEwen. Recognizing its potential, he conducted an extensive study of EPD in North America, leading the largest-ever clinical investigation of the therapy. This research, conducted between 1993 and 2002, involved over 100 physicians and approximately 10,500 patients across the United States and Canada, demonstrating impressive clinical outcomes.
Following the discontinuation of EPD in the U.S. in 2002, Dr. Shrader developed Low Dose Allergen (LDA) Therapy, an advanced immunotherapy based on EPD principles but enhanced with a broader spectrum of allergens. LDA has since been widely used by physicians to successfully treat a range of allergic and immune-related conditions.
Dr. Shrader's contributions to the field have significantly influenced the landscape of allergy and immunotherapy treatments. Through his pioneering work, he has helped countless patients achieve lasting relief while equipping physicians with effective tools to treat complex immune-related conditions.
